Reading Assignment 5: Chapters 12-14

After John's mother dies he sobers uncontrollably. He also keeps repeating himself OH God . he pushes a turn away without speaking because he asked John if his mother was dead. John behaves this way because he was raised by his mother and he loves her. The people don't understand why he is acting like this and they want him to leave the building. The reason they act this way is because they have been conditioned to death as a children.

Reading Assignment 3 : chapters 7-9

John is a savage and the son of the director. He grew up outside of the World State. He grew up on New Mexico savage Reservation. He has a hard time fitting in his new environment . He doesn't believe in their way of life .

Bernard is an Alpha male. He is very insecure about his physical appearance. He has a hard time fitting in his own society .

Brave New World

Aldous Huxley was born in Laleham, England on July 26, 1894 to a family with strong intellectual background. His father, Leonard Huxley, taught and later worked and wrote for a publishing firm. His mother , Julia Frances Arnold Huxley, founded a girls' school. Aldous attended Eton and specialized in biology intending to become a Doctor but suffered an illness that caused him to become blind . When one of his eyes recovered enough so that he could read with a magnifying glass he turned to English literature and philosophy at Oxford, taking a degree in 1915. He wrote novels,short stories,poetry and film strips .

Separate Peace

The story is about Gene and Finny who are both students at Devon school. Gene is quiet and very smart, he tries to do well in school. Finny is outgoing and very good in sports. They are opposites that become best friends. They struggle together through many challenges at school. They both seem to be jealous of the others abilites. After Finnys fall their friendship is tested several times, but in the end they seem to work it out .
